"Yes, he said I had to come to the arcade with him. So I did. He's very persuasive. And, I played on some games too. I've never played arcade games before, and it was fun. I shouldn't of drank that soda. I was hyper. I shouldn't of gotten hyper," Jessica said, sighing and looking up at him.
"I know. I'll stop crying. I just...I couldn't help it. It was all going so well, and then I opened my big mouth. I officially never want to drink soda in my life again," Jessica said, shaking her head. "Never again. I don't want to do something like this again."

"Just give it time, Jess," said Terrence once more. He can't impose the phrase enough. Time was all teenagers had even though they don't know they have it...or they won't accept that they still have it. They're always in a rush, as if the world was going to be ending sooner than it ought to. "Jess-"
"Excuse me." Cole stood by the garage door. He had changed his shirt for some reason, and his jacket was his favorite blue one. Though he wasn't wearing that earlier that morning. He looked at Terrence and then at Jessica then back at Terrence. "Hey Uncle Terrence," he said softly.
Terrence smiled at Cole. "Hey there, Cole." he replied. He gave Jessica a quick pat on the back. "I guess I better leave you two for a minute, right? I'll be over at the house if you need me," he said, saying it to Jessica more than to Cole.

Jessica nodded at Terrence, watching him leave and go back to the house. She stood up, grabbing a mechanical tool, she didn't care which, and began to work on the car nearby, doing everything to avoid Cole.
She was not really feeling up to hearing him say stuff like, he's sorry, he doesn't like her, he just wants to be friends, she's an idiot for saying that, etc. She wasn't feeling up to it. So she carried on working, keeping away from him.

Cole walked over to Jessica, but he kept his distance. "My dad teaches me stuff like that sometimes when he's home and my brother's away with my mom," was what he said first before crouching down. "I don't know much about cars though, since my dad doesn't like me touching one. He thinks I'd learn how to drive no sooner after I learn about a car."
Cole took a deep breath before saying. "You do know that I like you too, right?"

"I've been fixing up cars for years. Since I came here. I wanted to help, so I did. Terrence let me, and I've been staying with him ever since. He's like family to me. He is my family, him and Randy," Jessica said, keeping her eyes on the car.
Jessica froze when she heard him say the last sentence. What was he doing? Was he just saying that? Did he mean it? "Uh...." Jessica began, completely lost for words. She had no idea how to respond now.

Cole avoided Jessica's eyes. It was something he did when he liked a person. He knew that much of himself. Cole slowly picked up a wrench, but heck he didn't know what to do with it really. It was a shame that he was one of those guys who let others fix the cars...he wanted to learn it himself one of these days. Of course he had to take it up with his father first, hoping the man would understand.
"Is that a good Uh or a bad Uh?" asked Cole, still not looking Jessica's way. Did he just hurt her that much that everything she said a while ago just went away like that?

Jessica watched Cole pick up a wrench. She smiled to herself. She knew he had no idea what to do with it. He was one of the guys that let everyone but himself fix cars. But she could see he wanted to know what to do, so she would show him one time. If he wanted to know.
"I...it's a...uh...I...I don't know what to say...I..." Jessica stuttered, then looked up at him, taking hold of the wrench in Cole's hand and pulled it to make him look at her. "Are you being serious?"

Cole didn't let go of the wrench. He looked into the girl's eyes. "Do you think I am the kind of person who would kid about something like it?" he asked her. Oh, Cole really did have that kind of MO around girls, saying things they want to hear. But Cole meant it this time. Jessica, she was a hard girl to get...and he was going to make it a bit harder to lose too. There was no way he was going to let someone like her slip away just like that.
Cole smiled at Jessica. "Look, if there's something about me you ought to know is that I hate looking dumb. I'm here, holding a wrench and thinking that God knows what I can do with it and in front of me is a girl who can tell what spark plug goes where with her eyes clothes...practically smothering my male ego. But, see...I'm still here, Jessica," he pointed out.

"Well, I was told to be careful around you. Only being wary. So, if you mean it. If you truly mean it, then ok. But if you are lying, then I will never, ever forgive you. Understand that?" Jessica said, still holding onto the wrench.
"You don't know where a spark plug goes?" Jessica asked, giving him a small smile. "I can show you how to fix a car, if you want. And, how to use a wrench." And she meant it. She'd show him, if he asked her to.

Cole smiled at her. "Hey, would I be crouching down here and looking at you like I am right now if I didn't mean it?" asked Cole, which was true. Cole never really want to get his hands dirty, having others doing it for him was better. But if Jessica was doing it...so should he. He looked at Jessica. "Trust me, Jessica," he added in the most sincere tone of voice that he could.
Cole looked over to the wrench. "Teach away," he said. There was nothing better than someone teaching him how to do things...
