Cole placed his hand on top of the machine and slightly leaned his weight on it. "Now, that thingy below there," he said, pointing the the gas pedal, "is what you step on to make the car move. I take it you drive by now?" he said. Most of the kids their age had cars and Cole thought that there was nothing room in assuming things. He then shifted his eyes to the wheel. "Obviously that is what you use to drive."
The screen flashed the word 'Go' in two rather large letters.
"Step on the pedal!" exclaimed Cole as he watched the other computer generated cars zoom away.

Jessica put her foot down on the peddle, easily getting into the rhythm of driving. She could drive, but, she hadn't actually got in a car for a while. She had been in a few cars, mostly when she stopped by to help at a garage, but, she didn't have her own car.
"I drive, but, I don't have a car," Jessice murmured, watching the screen. She had to admit, this game was pretty fun. Much different from the real thing, and if you crashed on a game, you wouldn't hurt yourself.

Cole looked happy that he made someone feel glad about the game that he loved since he was three. "I told you this thing is a very nice start," he said confidently, giving the machine two quick pats as if it could feel it.
Cole shrugged. "It's all right if you don't have a car. I've always wanted one, but never got one either." He took a big shot, not thinking if he would cross any line. He barely knew this girl, which was pretty much his fault because he had never walked up to her even if he knew she existed since the time they were twelve and went to the same school. "Your parents won't let you have one too, huh?"

"Yes, it is pretty fun, actually," Jessica admitted, relaxing a bit as she got into the swing of things. "I see why Charlie likes it here so much. I never saw the point."
Jessica gripped the steering wheel tightly as he mentioned about her parents. Sure, it had been 14 years, but, it still hurt. Not knowing what happened. Just knowing they were dead. "Well, uh, my parents, uh, passed away when I was two, so..."

Cole pretty much turned red. He didn't mean to mention about her parents...If only he knew. Oh heck, if only he took the time to know about that. He meant to ask her how she and Charlie lived, but that questions should be asked when they were closer in relation...maybe. It's not the kind of thing you talk about in a normal conversation, or so Cole thought.
"I'm sorry," replied Cole, wishing that he had never said anything about her parents. "I didn't know..."

"Not many people do know. Or realise. You aren't the first to bring it up, and you won't be the last," Jessica said softly, keeping a tight grip on the steering wheel. "It's fine."
Jessica knew how he must be feeling. Embarrassed. She knew when ever someone mentioned her parents, and found out the truth, they would get embarrassed. But, the worst part, was when they started feeling sorry for you. She hated it. They would be different, because they were sorry.

Cole tried to avoid Jessica's gaze by looking at the screen instead. "Hey, watch out, try to go to the middle of the street." He wanted to forget the awkward moment together, but he couldn't seem to get it away from his mind.
Finally, he knew he had to change the subject instead of avoiding it. "So...I know that we go to the same school and we go to the same level," he started. He tried to think of a less awkward conversation for the both of them. "What can you do, anyway?" he asked.
It was another thing...he never took the time to know about Jessica. He started to wonder why.

Jessica moved the steering wheel, moving the car on the screen to the middle of the street. She knew he was feeling akward, she could feel it in the air. The tension.
"What can I do?" Jessica replied, feeling a small smile on her face. This was something she liked. She loved her power. Being able to move anything she wanted without touching it. "This is what I can do."
Jessica took her hands off of the steering wheel, yet it kept moving, keeping the car on the road. She gave it a few minutes, then put her hands back on the steering wheel. "I can move things with my mind."

Cole smiled a wide smile, impressed even at her power. Oh boy, did he wish he had that one..but no! He had to have his father's...which was not that bad anyway. But still, being able to move things with your mind was totally awesome.
"That is so freakin' awesome!" said Cole excitedly. He glanced at Jessica, "Not pun intended on the word freakin'," he added, knowing that there were some people who did not appreciate the word and not knowing if Jessica was one of them.

"Don't worry about it. I don't mind being called a freak. Makes me feel special. Knowing that I'm different," Jessica replied, finishing the race third.
Jessica climbed out of the car, brushing her hair off of her face as she stood up. She realised that she was a lot shorter than him, not that it was surprising, but she hadn't really stood this close to a boy before.
"So, what can you do?" Jessica asked.
